The Review
This foundation boasts an instantly added radiance and a natural finish. It is also described to have skin-care like effects with buildable lightweight coverage for up to 24 hours of wear, sweat-resistant coverage, and all-day hydration. I for one can say all of these descriptions are true.
I tried the product on freshly cleansed and moisturized skin, on top of the e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer and the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder. I originally, wore this foundation not knowing I was going to be wearing it as long as it did. That day, I ended up wearing it from 9:00 am to 2:00 am the next morning, and it lasted the entire day with only one touch up!
Throughout the day, my skin didn’t feel dry or pulled tight like some ultra-matte foundation makes it feel. Yet, my face didn’t feel like an oil slick either (which is a quality I’ve come to terms with regarding all foundations). The foundation actually had a silky feel and a demi-matte like finish. The Origins “Pretty in Bloom” Foundation has a faint yet nice flowery smell to it, almost like rosewater. The coverage though lightweight was wonderful and left me with a nice radiant yet natural-looking finish. It literally looks like skin.
Another positive aspect of this foundation is its sweat and humidity-resistant coverage. Throughout the day, my face did not melt whatsoever! I mean it did not budge. This characteristic excites me because, on hot days, I often sweat on my nose, and then my nose will turn shiny. However, none of that happened, and I’ve worn this foundation to the gym before!
Overall, would I wear this foundation again? Definitely, especially on those days when I don’t need a lot of coverage and just want to create a smooth even tone or when I want that effortless beauty look. This is my first-time trying Origins foundation and I am VERY impressed! I also think that it is important to note that this foundation has an SPF 20 and comes in 30 shades. I am even considering making this my “everyday” foundation!
The only downside to this foundation is it doesn’t provide enough coverage for me. When selecting a foundation, I prefer to have at least medium coverage and wasn’t able to get that with just one layer of this foundation. However, you can build up the coverage by applying multiple layers to get the results you desire. Ultimately, the ability to build the coverage is a positive characteristic in a foundation because it allows you to determine how heavy you want your foundation to be. Nevertheless, I overlooked the lightweight coverage and decided to give it a positive review.
